darkdragon > Plog 01-28-09: Models I've been busy gathering car models for my "big" animation. This is a photo of one of my models - a Mustang. I try to stay away from red and black, but that is the majority of what I'm finding. I have to say that this car is very nice in red though. I'm no expert at car still-life, but what do you think? I have trouble with the reflective surfaces, but I think it turned out decent. Taken with my G9 as my 40D is set up for a new animation test for tomorrow night.
darkdragon > Plog 01-19-09: Still Snapping Still working on the technology theme, DVDs is something I'm working with here. Not having a lot of luck with this so far, perhaps I can try some flash gels for some added color. This was the best I got tonight.
darkdragon > Plog 01-16-09: Doll Clothes 2.0 Second try at doll clothes. I've figured out how to do the cuffs (seams) and size it correctly. I still need to figure out the collar and get some different types of material. This outfit I just made tonight and it works pretty well. At least good enough to do my walking test.
darkdragon > Plog 01-08-09: CES Day 1 Very difficult to get a decent shot in this low & mixed lighting. I keep trying to do better and actually will be taking my G9 tomorrow instead of the 40D. That way I will be able to do macro shots and have a decent onboard flash that I can use (easy to modify and doesn't have problems with the lens).
darkdragon > Plog 01-07-09: CES Day 1/2 The first day of CES, they are still working on a lot of the booths. Only exhibitors and press were allowed in. I was actually suprised by how few press there were on the floor or anywhere actually. I have taken some shots and wrote my first day thoughts at GameTechWorld.com, you can read it here if you like. I almost forgot to put this photo up, I hope you all like it as a small glimpse into the Expo. I'm up at 5am tomorrow to get to the show by 730, so i got to get to bed now. G'night!
darkdragon > Plog 3-15-06: Another Model? Yes, another model shoot. This time it was at the photo club meeting. I, however, forgot to bring my 40D so I took a few shots with my Lumix LX2. The photo here is uncropped. I only did some minor adjustments in Lightroom. It is posted at a max size of 800px tall because if you pixel-peep it ... yuck, but looks decent at smaller sizes. I might print it and see how it looks at 4x6 - have not printed anything from that camera yet.
darkdragon > Plog Day 2b: Thriling Alright, so tonight I went to the top of the Stratosphere to test out my new nifty fifty (50mm f/1.4). This was my first time trying to take some photos at night with my 40D. I am pleased that some of the photos came out. I experimented a lot with settings to see what worked best. Next time I'll bring my monopod. This is one of my favorite shots from the night. These folks are on a ride that dangles them over edge of the Stratosphere. They are aproximately 110 stories up in the air. Then it starts spinning and soon the people in the chairs are almost completely horizontal staring at the Las Vegas Strip straight down.
darkdragon > Plog 12-8-08: Final Projects II Another requirement of my final project for class is that I needed to do a shot in a studio. Because one of the toughest things for me is to do High-Key correctly, that's what I went for. I also tried my hand at political something-or-other. It was fun to create this setup and the fact that it came out exactly as envisioned straight from the camera was another plus.
darkdragon > Plog 7-15-08: AWESOME! Ok, so I JUST discovered that I can email photos to my Smugmug. Somehow I missed that info when I was looking at the account stuff. Anyhow, this is so great because the smugmug upload URL (just that one) is blocked at work. So now I can actually email photos and just move them to the Daily Photo gallery. I'm so excited! I will be able to more easily get daily photos out and hopefully not miss most days. About this image, it is a shot of my watch that I took yesterday for a photo scavenger hunt. Love this watch :-D
