Plog 5-10-08: Spider!

On the way to bed tonight, my husband spotted this little fella on the doorjamb and called me up to check it out. I spent about an hour or so taking pictures of it. It is very tricky to get a good angle on a spider that is just about eye height on a vertical corner.

Plog 5-9-08: Fun Times

So I did a little bit of experimental photography at the camera club meeting tonight. This is one of my favorite images. The only editing I did was basic stuff in Lightroom (crop, noise red., etc). No goofing around, this was all done in camera.

Plog 5-8-08: Autofocus is King

So, I got a new Canon 2x converter for my 70-200mm f4L. Yeah, I know that I lose autofocus with that. I just wanted the reach.

Went to the park to test out the 2x and had some great views, especially liked the ducklings. However, without autofocus the only decent picture I got was of a dove that was pretty much standing still.

I am posting this picture because the ducklings are cute!

Looks like I'll be upgrading to the 70-200 F2.8L soon. I'll need to sell my F4L IS first though.

Plog 5-2-08: Xander

Took this shot for a Dgrin weekly challenge, just a few minutes ago actually. Quick shot of my hand and my Pleo "Xander". Came out exactly how I wanted the first time.

Was unable to do any sharpening in photoshop because I don't have it available right now. I'll possibly update the image tonight with a sharpened version, dunno yet.

Plog 4-27-08: Photographer

Gotta get to bed, but here's a photo of my shadow I took at the game today. I had a blast and am excited to do it again next month, though I think I will wear more sunscreen next time if it is a day game.

Check out all my baseball pictures in my new baseball album. All the JPG uploads turned out darker than I expected and I kept the resolution down to 800px max when I uploaded them (for now).

Plog 4-26-08: What?

Getting gear ready for my first trip to the press area of a baseball game since 1995! Hopefully it is as fun as I remember. I'll be posting some images here tomorrow night.

This photo is a strange little arrangement I found on a tree at the park. Beads and flower (fake) wrapped around the supports and trunk of this young tree. I don't know why or what they were for...maybe some party long ago.

Plog 4-18-08: Pretty Lights

My first time shooting long exposure night-shot car lights. I'm hoping to get a better at this, but most importantly find a great/interesting place to shoot in town. This intersection, not so interesting, but I knew there would be lots and lots of cars. It was a good place to practice.

Any tips on this kind of shot are useful. Thanks for looking.

Plog 4-12-08: Ah! Spider!

Shooting some macro shots at a workshop with the local camera club. On the way out, while packing up we saw this guy in the corner. Didn't get a macro shot, but got a decent zoom shot. If he wasn't so high up I would have loved to get some macro shots of him.

Plog 4-4-08: Have you heard this one?

It's been a while. I've been shooting some film, with my new Holga. So far, 2 rolls of 120. Still learning what/how to get the best fun images.

This one was taken with my 40D at the park today. This group of ducks was running all over the place in thier little pack. It was cute.

Plog 3-15-06: Another Model?

Yes, another model shoot. This time it was at the photo club meeting. I, however, forgot to bring my 40D so I took a few shots with my Lumix LX2.

The photo here is uncropped. I only did some minor adjustments in Lightroom. It is posted at a max size of 800px tall because if you pixel-peep it ... yuck, but looks decent at smaller sizes.

I might print it and see how it looks at 4x6 - have not printed anything from that camera yet.
