Ah yes, another photo blog. "Daily" photos for all to enjoy.
Plog 10-17-08: Yummy
I'm no food photographer (obviously) but I threw together this dish yesterday for lunch. It is all 100% healthy and all vegi (unless olive is a fruit, or if you count tomato as a fruit).
I was amazed that it was as delicious as I'd hoped. I really think that adding onion to a dish helps bring out the other flavors.
Hopefully some more interesting photos tomorrow!
Plog 10-11-08: Age of Chivalry
Today I went to the renaissance fair to take some photos. Still practicing taking "event" photos. With the time crunch and unpredictable environment I have a tough time with exposure and focus. I am getting better though and my compositions are improving (less cropping in Lightroom).

Plog 8-24-08: Kelby Photowalk
Like 8000 other people around the world (mostly USA), I participated in the Kelby Photowalk on 8-23-08. I got a few interesting shots and had some fun. Some day I might be social enough to hang out at the end of an event like this. Instead I headed home and downloaded my images.
This is just one shot from the day, a small portion of a hotel/casino front.
More in the
gallery.
Plog 8-13-08: Komodo Dragon
Today after work, I went to the local aquarium, Shark Reef @ Mandalay Bay Hotel & Casino. I have been there a few times, but they got a new Komodo Dragon a few weeks ago and I've been wanting to see him. I took my 40D and 50mm (with hood) and got a few good shots.
This is one of them, you can find the rest (I'm only uploading the top 4) in my
Nature Gallery.
Plog 8-12-08: Neat
I was playing with my G9 and the .25x fisheye adapter I put on it. I cut this image out of the image circle. The strange colors are caused by playing with the Levels in photoshop (6.0). The effect was an accident but I thought it looked really neat.
Plog 8-06-08: Cupcake
Photo taken for a photo-scavenger-hunt, this is photo #1 of the 13-photo list.
Currently enjoying my new Canon G9 and carrying it everywhere!
Plog 8-05-08: Philips 5.6-Inch Digital Photo Frame
If anyone out there is looking for a nice photo frame. This is it. I've had it since March but just loaded up an SD card with photos and started using the frame yesterday.
I love this thing. The images are EXTREMELY sharp and vibrant. The controls are simple, it is silent (unless you are playing a video of course). The frame has a Tilt Sensor, so when you turn it to portrait mode it will display all the images in that mode, here in this photo I'm displaying a tall image in frame landscape mode, it adds a white edging (which you can change to black or gray).
There is built-in internal memory but you can get a lot of images on a memory card. The frame takes SD, XD, CF. I just love it, thinking of getting another one (I have this one at work).
Some reviews say that this frame chugs or freezes after 5 mins but I had it running all day yesterday slideshow with 103 images and a fade between each one - absolutely no problems. I would recommend resizing your images to 640x480 before putting them in the frame, that way the frame doesn't have to resize them.

Plog 8-02-08: Sooo Tired
Managed to get up at 5am this morning to go out to the wetlands and get some photos before it got too hot (was 88 when I left the park at 8:30am, 93 ten minutes later when I got home).
So yeah, I got out there and got pictures of rabbits and ants and this sunrise shot. No bird photos (though I snapped a really bad picture of a roadrunner which I was not expecting to see), no dragonflies, and no coyotes. Oh well, I will try again. I am thinking next trip will be late evening around 6 or 7pm to get some hawks and coyotes.
Plog 7-19-08: Still Hot Out Here
Trip to Zion over the weekend. I didn't get a lot of images - it was SO dang hot (over 100f) and crowded too. Normally I go to Zion in winter when it is perfect.
Anyhow, I found this little guy who ran up to drink water that was splashing out of the drinking fountain while some guy was filling up a water bottle.
Plog 7-15-08: AWESOME!
Ok, so I JUST discovered that I can
email photos to my Smugmug. Somehow I missed that info when I was looking at the account stuff.
Anyhow, this is so great because the smugmug upload URL (just that one) is blocked at work. So now I can actually email photos and just move them to the Daily Photo gallery. I'm so excited! I will be able to more easily get daily photos out and hopefully not miss most days.
About this image, it is a shot of my watch that I took yesterday for a photo scavenger hunt. Love this watch :-D
